Our R&D work in ethology and animal welfare is aimed at any organization working with farm animals and/or wishing to improve animal welfare. We carry out research on behalf of livestock farms, livestock industry organizations and public and private companies. We also collaborate with research laboratories (public and private) and with animal welfare associations.
These research projects and programs in ethology and animal welfare may be part of private applications or programs, or of national or international projects and calls for proposals.
One of the strengths of the Bankiva office is the complementary backgrounds of its members (see the "Team" tab for details).
Some come from the academic world, others from the world of agronomy, all with in-depth knowledge of farm animals and the realities on the ground. Another strength is our original position: we are not part of a research institute, we are independent and we work closely with the livestock industry. When carrying out research, it's usual to start at the experimental level and then, where possible, extend the study to a few farms. Thanks to our knowledge and positioning, we can carry out studies directly at different sites.
We also collaborate with research institutes and teams, and build innovative projects in which we can include requests or issues from the field right from the start. This ensures a real and active link between research groups and breeding sites.
The Bankiva office offers its services for the realization - partial or total - of scientific studies in the field of ethology and animal welfare:
